It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hi Carol!

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

  • If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
  • How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
  • Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
  • Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
  • Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!

Sincerely, Amy Gilpin on behalf of the Scotland Project Leaders

Hello,

I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.

If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I will not be able to join the project at this time.

No worries Carol, thanks for your reply. Any time you're ready, our door is always open to you.

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

I am continually researching Hunters in Scotland and would love to have profiles and data collected to help others searching for their Hunter ancestors.

Could I please be added to the Google Group and Discord.

Yours aye,

Carol

Amy,

I would love to start once again on the Scotland Project. I do want to say how sorry I am for not helping these past three months.

Carol

Hi Carol

Your changes you made to Hunter-13080 do you have a source for the actual death and place you entered? - it doesn't correspond to his grave memorial and cemetery records https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/117283336/john-boyd-hunter - At this stage I have been unable to find details in war records and have had to work with cemetery records assuming he died on returning home if he was even actually engaged in fighting. His brother Andrew was wounded at Somme 3 Oct 1916 and died 22 Jun 1917. My family were not great record keepers so have relied on cemetery records and birth records.

Hi,

The Global Cemeteries Project is currently undergoing our member check-in and wanted to verify that you are still active and interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Cemetery Teams? If not, is there a particular Team or area you are interested in participating with? I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!

We use Google Groups for internal project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup for access feel free to submit a join request and we will get that approved as quick as possible. We also ask that members check their follwed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (CEMETERIES) so you don't miss any disucssions in G2G.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank you for all of your contributions to WikiTree and let you konw that any ideas or suggestions for improvement you may have for the Global Cemeteries Project would greatly appreciated!

I look forward to hearing form you soon!

Hi Tom,

I am sorry for not getting back to you earlier, but today I have been spending time writing my Hunter One-Name Study book I hope to have done by the time I go to the Clan Hunter Gathering in Scotland this coming September.

I will definitely try to help you asap.

Carol

Please do some research on john Boone. You have him listed as the son of Israel and this has not been proven and the Boone society states that dna testing infact proves the opposite. If you need help correcting, feel free to get in touch.

Alison,

I am so confused about the Boone line. I have so many questions about my relations with John Boon(Boone). The problem I have is there are sources from the Sons of the American Revolutions and I trust the person's tree. I will definitely do more research.

Thank you,

Carol

Carol, it looks like you've created a number of duplicate profiles for early Native Americans who already have profiles here. Please approve the merge proposals that Jeanie is making so that we can have just one profile. Also, please don't create more profiles of early Native Americans. They probably already exist here. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Jillaine, coordinator, Native American project.
posted by Jillaine Smith
Jillaine,

I don't have Native Americans in my lineage so I am not sure exactly what you mean. I am not on wikitree very much lately so I will definitely take time to see what I have done as you say.

I am so sorry but I will have to do more research on these profiles you say I have created. I do not have Native Americans in my tree so I am not sure why I have done that.

Carol

It looks like you may have some outstanding merges that need attention. You can find them by following the link at the top of this page under >My Wikitree>Watchlist, then hit the button that says Pending Merges

Thanks for helping with Wikitree

Hi Robin,

I am so sorry for not doing much on WikiTree, but I am writing a book about my Hunter One-Name Study which is taking a lot of my time lately. I love WikiTree and will try to do better. Thank you for your post.

Hi Carol,

I’m Steven, coordinator of the Categorization Project. Please have a look at the revamped Categorization Project page, specifically about the new team approach. Members will be now be part of the Maintenance Team. Project Liaisons and leaders will be involved in the Vision and Collaboration team.

Please contact me within the next week to let me know if you would like to remain an active member of the project. If I don’t hear back from you I will assume you no longer want to be a part of the Categorization Project.

Thanks, Steven

Steve,

I haven't been spending time on my site here and wish I could, but I am a member of the Guild of One-Name Studies and presently writing a book about my study which is taking a lot of my time. I love WikiTree and if I didn't have so many blogs and helping Hunters worldwide I would get organized here. I would love to do more with the categorization project especially cemeteries since I am a contributor to FAG. I do take a lot of photos everywhere we travel and even with that I have many photos I haven't even had time to upload to FAG.

Carol,

Do you have the tag for the USA hunter name study so I can add mine to that group. If you could put tag on the USA hunter name study it be great. Billie
