Arthur Hood was born in Somerset, England.
Arthur William Hood was born on 11 December 1730. He was baptised at St Leonard Church, Butleigh, Somerset, England on 6 January 1731. His parents were Samuel Hood and Mary Hoskins. His father was a Vicar [1].
There is an entry for Arthur William Hood in Alumni Cantabrigienses: a biographical list of all known students, graduates and holders of office at the University of Cambridge, from the earliest times to 1900 by John Archibald Venn [2]. The entry is as follows:
HOOD, ARTHUR WILLIAM. Adm. sizar at ST JOHN'S, 1747. S. of Samuel, clerk, of Somerset. B. at Butleigh, near Somerton. School, Ilminster (Mr Davies). Matric. 1747; B.A. 1750-1; M.A. 1754; D.D. 1766. Ord. priest (London) Feb. 28, 1755. R. of Butleigh, 1761-70. Preb. of Wells, 1763-70. (Scott-Mayor, III. 568.)
Rev Dr Arthur William Hood was buried at St Leonard Church, Butleigh, Somerset, England on 25 November 1796 [3].
