Biography

Florence was born in Bolney Sussex in 1888. She is the daughter of Charles Hole and Elizabeth Simmonds. Florence was baptised in Bolney on 29 April 1888.

At the time of the 1911 Census, Florence age 23 was residing in the Isaac Chepmell household in Worthing Sussex, where she was working as a 'house parlourmaid domestic'.

Florence emigrated as a single woman to Australia in 1921. There, at age 34, she met and married Richard Anderson Bisset in 1923 in Randwick, New South Wales. They would have 4 children together. Florence was widowed in 1963.

Florence passed away in Merrylands (Sydney) in 1972. The following is a transcript of the death notice which appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald in July 1972: Bisset, Florence Isobel - July 13, 1972, late of Merrylands, beloved mother and mother-in-law of Elsie and Bill, Rachel, Ruth and Harold, Dick and Shirley, fond grandmother and great grandmother of their children. Aged 84 years. At rest. Privately cremated.
