Biography

William Heacock was born in 1716 in Rockhill, Bucks, Pennsylvania. William passed away 8 May 1800 in same. [1] His Birth also found in Marple, Chester, Pennsylvania; his death also found April 12, 1800 in Rockhill, Bucks, Pennsylvania He was by occupation a millwright. He removed to Rockhill Twp, Bucks, PA; lived there the rest of his life.

Note: from r29p3_636, it appears that William acquired from Thomas and Richard Penn a large farm by charter grant. This farm was the family homestead for several generations of Heacock's. The farm was located in West Rockhill township. Also found in r123p655

Note NI1385NOTES (Note about William Heacock) "Settled in Rockhill Bucks Co. Pa. and married Ann Roberts of that place. [r1p12], William settled in Rockhill Township near the border of Richland Township in a section known as the ""Bog"" in 1740. He took up a large plantation on which he erected and operated a saw mill. He died on a part of his plantation 4 mo. 12, 1800. By his will made 12 mo. 2,1797, and probated 5 mo. 12, 1800, he directed that the plantation on which his son William lived containing 93 acres and 146 perches should be sold. The saw mill with a tract of land was devised to his son Jesse and remained in the family for several generations. In addition to legacies to his several children he bequeathed to his sister Ann Morgan a legacy of ten pounds if she outlived him and if she did not it was to be paid to her daughter Mary. Richland Township is bounded on the south by Rockhill where William Heacock built his mill and by Haycock Township on the East. Richland Township is about five miles wide and seven miles long. Quakertown is located at its center and the Heacock and related families lived near the southern line within walking distance of each other. [r8p2]"
