John married Sarah Taylor in 1739.[3][2] Children:

Note: They settled on a farm in Middletown, which has remained in the possession of some of his descendants until within a short time (written before 1869). He was a cabinet maker and, in advanced life, caused a walnut tree, which grew from a nut he once carried in his pocket, to be cut into boards, out of which he made his own coffin. In this he placed his grave clothes, and in conformity to his request they were used in his interment. He was buried at Middletown friends grave yard.[r1p4][r56p109][3]
