Richard Hawke was the 2nd Great Grandfather of Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
He was born at Brentor, Devon on 28/8/1807

to Nathaniel Hawke and Mary Metters, but grew up at Kea in Cornwall. He married Jane Renfrey at Kea on 24/4/1830

and they had 8 children.

Richard moved to Staffordshire around 1848, and appears in the 1851 census at Warslow:[3] Richard Hawke 43 copper miner (b Devonshire, Brinter Parish), Jane 43 (b Kea Cornwall), Richard 19 (b Kea), William 17 (b Kea), James 14 (b Kea), John 11 (b Kea), Mary Jane 7 (b Kea), Maria 11 (b Kea), Nathaniel 2 (b Warslow), Jane Renfrew 71 (wifes mother, b Kea).
He emigrated to the South Australian copper fields and died at Kapunda on 22 September 1868 and was buried at Kapunda Cemetery.
