Biography

John Hathaway was born in Warwickshire, England.

John Hathaway was the son of Richard Hathaway. husbandman, of Shottery, a small village about a mile west of the market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

He was baptised on 3 February 1574/5 at Holy Trinity, Stratford, and entered in the parish register as “John son to Richard Hathaway.”^[1]

His father was buried at Holy Trinity, Stratford on 7 September 1581.^[2] His will dated 1 September 1581 states:

I geve and bequeth vnto Thomas John my sonne vj^li xiij^s iiij^d to be paid vnto him att the Age of Twentie yeares^[3]
