Biography

Margaret Hathaway was born in Warwickshire, England.

Margaret Hathaway was the daughter of Richard Hathaway. husbandman, of Shottery, a small village about a mile west of the market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

She was baptised on 17 August 1572 at Holy Trinity, Stratford, and entered in the parish register as "Margaret Daughter to [blank] Gardner of Shotrey."^[1]

Her father was buried at Holy Trinity, Stratford on 7 September 1581.^[2] His will dated 1 September 1581 states:

I geve and bequethe vnto Margarett my daughter vj^li xiiij^s iiij^d to be paid vnto her att the Age of Seventeyne yeares^[3]

Nothing is known about what happened to her after the death of her father in 1582.^[4]
