Biography

George Hancox was born in 1846 in Tysoe, Warwickshire, England to Daniel Hancox and Maria (Ivens) Hancox. His birth was registered in Shipston on Stour, Warwickshire in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Ivens.^[1]

In 1851 George Hancox (age 4) lived in Tysoe with his father Daniel (40, Ag Lab), mother Maria (38), and two sisters: Mary A (12) and Harriet (8).^[2]

In 1861 George "Harris" [Hancox] (age 14) lived in Church Tysoe with his father Daniel (50, Labourer), mother Maria (46), and four siblings: (14), John (9), Daniel (5), Ellen (3), and Mary Ann Price (22), as well as brother-in-law George Price (24, Blacksmith).^[3]

George married Mary Ann Townsend before 1872, and they had eight children:

In 1891 George Hancox (age 46, Railway Porter) lived in Bromley with his wife M A (47) and five children: Caleb (18, Plumber), Alice (15), G W (11, Scholar), Mary A (9, Scholar), and H G (5, Scholar).^[5]

George Hancox passed away in 1891, aged 45 years. His death was registered in Poplar, London in the last quarter of the year.^[6]
