Biography

Mary Ann Hancox was born in 1838 in Tysoe, Warwickshire, England to Daniel Hancox and Maria (Ivens) Hancox. Her birth was registered in Shipston on Stour, Warwickshire in the second quarter of the year [as Mary Ann Handcox], with mother's maiden name Ivins [Ivens].^[1]

She was christened on 17 Jun 1838 in Tysoe.^[2]

In 1841 Mary Hancox (age 2) lived in Upper Tysoe with her father Daniel (25-29), mother Maria (25-29), and brother Thomas (5).^[3]

In 1851 Mary A Hancox (age 12) lived in Tysoe with her father Daniel (40, Ag Lab), mother Maria (38), sister Harriet (8), and brother George (4).^[4]

Mary Ann Hancox married George Price on 16 Oct 1860 in Tysoe.^[5]

In 1861 Mary Ann Price (age 22) and her husband George Price (24, Blacksmith) lived in Church Tysoe with her father Daniel [Hancox] (50, Labourer), mother Maria [Hancox] (46), and four siblings: George (14), John (9), Daniel (5), and Ellen (3).^[6]

Mary Ann Price passed away in 1862, aged 23 years - presumably due to the birth of her daughter, who also died. Her death was registered in Shipston on Stour in the second quarter of the year.^[7]
