Biography

Daniel Hancox was born in 1810 in Tysoe, Warwickshire, England to Thomas Hancox and Mary (Filpot) Hancox. He was baptised on 9 Dec 1810 in Tysoe.

In 1834 in the parish of Tysoe: "Banns of Marriage between Daniel Hancox of this parish and Maria Ivens of the parish of Bloxham in the county of Oxford were published on the Three Sundays underwritten; That is to say, On Sunday the 1st June; On Sunday the 8th June; On Sunday the 15th June."^[1]

Daniel and Maria had at least seven children:

In 1841 Daniel Hancox (age 25-29) lived in Upper Tysoe with his wife Maria (25-29), son Thomas (5), and daughter Mary (2).^[2]

In 1851 Daniel Hancox (age 40, Ag Lab) lived in Tysoe with his wife Maria (38) and three children: Mary A (12), Harriet (8), and George (4).^[3]

In 1861 Daniel "Harris" [Hancox] (age 50, Labourer) lived in Church Tysoe with his wife Maria (46) and five children: George (14), John (9), Daniel (5), Ellen (3), and Mary Ann Price (22), as well as son-in-law George Price (24, Blacksmith).^[4]

In 1871 Daniel Hancox (age 60, Agricultural Labourer) lived in Tysoe with his wife Mariah (54) and three children: Harriet (27), Daniel (16), and Ellen (13).^[5]

Daniel Hancox passed away in 1881, aged 70 years. His death was registered in Shipston on Stour, Warwickshire [the registration district for Tysoe] in the first quarter of the year.^[6]
