Henry was born in 1829. He was the son of Robert Guinness and Mary Seymour. His father was an Irish banker, most famous for co-founding the Guinness Mahon bank in 1836.
Following his education he became a banker in his father's firm Guinness Mahon.
He married Emmelina Brown (daughter of James Brown), on 11 February 1858 in St Peter, City of Dublin, Ireland.[1]
