Richard Noel Guinness was born on 22 December 1870. He was the son of Henry Guinness and Emmelina Brown.
He married Mary Stokes, daughter of Henry Stokes, in July 1894. He died on 30 September 1960 at age 89. Richard Noel Guinness usually went by his middle name of Noel. He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1893 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He was a practising solicitor. He was a partner of Guinness Mahon. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Dublin. He was Commissioner of Irish Lights. He was chairman of Guinness & Mahon in 1942.
