He was the son of Robert Rundell Guinness and Mary Anne Moore.
He married Grace Harriet Butler, daughter of Very Rev. William John Butler, on 17 April 1866.
He died on 17 March 1918 at age 76. He graduated from Queen's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1863 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He was ordained in 1864. He graduated from Queen's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1867 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).
