Biography

Josephine Grubbs was the daughter of John Cloud Grubbs and Susan Austen. She was born on 9 May 1847 in Niles, Berrien, Michigan. Her parents moved the family to Oregon in 1852 where John Cloud Grubbs took out a Donation Land Claim in Benton County. In the 1870 U.S. Census, the Grubbs family was shown living next door to the John Wesley McBee family. Following the death of John Wesley McBee's wife, Elizabeth Jane Matheny in 1870, leaving him with 5 children, he married Josephine Grubbs in 1874. Shortly after their marriage, John Wesley McBee and Josephine Grubbs McBee moved from Benton County to Lane County, Oregon. They had 5 children. John Wesley McBee died in 1888 in Springfield, Lane, Oregon. Josephine Grubbs McBee died in 1893 in Springfield, Lane, Oregon. They are buried in the IOOF Pioneer Cemetery in Eugene, Lane, Oregon.

Grubbs-1067 and Grubbs-388 appear to represent the same person because: I created the Grubbs-1067 profile then when entereing her husband found they were both already in Wikitree. Both profile represent the same person, Josephine Grubbs, second wife of John Wesley McBee.
