Biography

Magloire Girouard is a descendant of an Acadian

Magloire Girouard was born on 2 Oct 1835, the son of Anselme Girouard and Suzanne Jaillet.^[1]

Magloire married Suzanne Allain on 8 Nov 1858 in Bouctouche.^[2] Witnesses were Aimé Allain and Madeleine Girouard.

Magloire married for a second time to Collette Cormier, daughter of Fidèle Cormier, on 10 Aug 1863 in Bouctouche.^[3] Witnesses were Magloire Cormier (her brother) and Madeleine Girouard (his sister).

In the 1881 census, Maglois [sic] (age 43) lived in Ste. Mary's with his wife Colette (50) and children Virginie (16), Jean (12), Maximillian (10), Joseph Norbert (8), Alyre (6), and Marie (4).^[5]

In the 1891 census, Magloire (age 55) lived in St. Mary's with his wife Colette (58) and children Jean (22), Virginie (23), Albert (19), and Allire (17).^[6]

In the 1901 census, Magloire (age 65) was a widower and lived in St. Mary.^[7] He worked as a farmer and lived with children Virginie (35), Jean O (32), and Clement (16). Clement was noted as being Magloire's adopted son, and was likely Magloire's nephew Clement Girouard.

He died 10 Oct 1906 at age 71 of consumption. St Mary's, Kent, New Brunswick. ^[8]
