Biography

William Froneberger was born in 1760 in North Carolina Colony, the son of William Froneberger and Mary (Unknown) Costner. He was the brother of Johannes Froneberger and David Costner.

William died on July 29, 1803 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, United States.

His will was written on 23 July 1803. His wife was to have a third as long as she remained single; his three sons William, Jacob, and John were to have the estate between them and his three daughters Barbra, Anna Mary, and Susey were to each have eighty silver dollars when they came of age. His brother "John Fronnery" and wife Caterine were to be his executors. [1]

In the estate settlement files, John Fulenwilder was named guardian of William, implying that William at least was under age as of 1803.[2] In 1810 the land was divided into 3 parts: William received lot 1 at 139 acres, John lot 2 at 178(?) acres, and Jacob lot 3 at 118 acres.[3] The same papers also include a final settlement dated 5 May 1810 stating his six children and the widow should each receive 59 dollars and 12 cents.[4]

Research Notes

According to the original uploader who listed Carpenters A Plenty as the only source for the entire profile; "William first married Catherine Rule. They had at least the following children: #William Froneberger, #Jacob Froneberger and #Anna Mary (Froneberger) Sellers. William married second Anna Mary Seitz. They had no children."

What is the source for this? According to his will/estate papers his wife was Caty or Caterine at the time of his death.

Some online family trees give his spouse as Catherine Sides or Seitz, while others list Catherine Rule. Is there a source for either surname? Need to try to track down what happened to his widow Catherine after his death. Could she have remarried to a Rule?
