Biography

Frederick J. "Jack" French, the adopted son of Lotus Henderson Cameron (1891-1935) and her first husband, Frederick William French (1888-1920), was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada about 1917.^[1] He became a salesman.^[1] Jack remained close to his adoptive mother's family after her death in 1935.

He married stenographer Katharine Jean "Kay" Munro in Toronto on Dec. 1, 1939.^[1] Jack and Kay continued to live in Toronto.^[2] By 1957, however, Jack had a new wife, Evelyn (an office worker); they, too, lived in Toronto.^[3][4][5]

Research Notes

Jack is identified simply as "Jack French" in his 1939 marriage record and on the 1940 voters list. There is no proof that the "F.J. French" or "Frederick J. French" seen in voters lists from the 50's and 60's (with a different wife) is the same person; but the following factors suggest that he is:

• the name Frederick (the same as his adoptive father's)
• the middle initial J, suggesting a middle name of John (hence "Jack")
• his occupation of salesman
• his residence in Toronto
