Biography
Arthur (Forbes) Forbes Fifth Lord Forbes is a member of Clan Forbes.
Arthur Forbes was born around 1470 as the second son to William Forbes, 3rd Lord Forbes, and Christian Gordon, third daughter of Alexander Gordon, first Earl of Huntly, and Elizabeth Crichton.[1] His year of birth is not provided in source and is estimated based on life events.
He succeeded his older brother, Alexander, shortly before May 1491. On 6 May 1491 Arthur, 5th Lord Forbes, was ordained to pay to the Bishop of Aberdeen the second teind of the lands of Drumminor and Fiddes.[1]
Arthur Forbes married Agnes Lyon, daughter of John Lyon, 3rd Lord Glamis and Elizabeth Scrymgeour, about 1493. She survived him, and married, secondly, John Ross of Craigie. Lady Agnes died before April 1529.[1] There were no children from his marriage.[2]
He died in 1493 and was succeeded by his younger brother, John Forbes, b: ca. 1472, who became John 6th Lord Forbes.
