EVENING POST, VOLUME 33, ISSUE XCIII, 7 FEBRUARY 1917 Mr. Arthur George Fell, who for a great many years was one of the best known business men in Marlborough, died yesterday at his residence in Hobson-street, aged 69. The deceased was born in Nelson, and was the third son of the late Mr. Alfred Fell, who arrived in New Zealand in 1842 and founded the firm of Cocks and Co. there. Mr. A. G. Fell was educated in England, and remained there for thirteen years. In 1871 he returned to this country, and began business in Blenheim as a general merchant. He sold out to Messrs. Levin and Co., and then removed to Picton, where he conducted an extensive malt business. A few years ago he settled in Wellington. For some time past he had been in bad health. He was formerly a member of the Blenheim Borough Council and of the Marlborough Education Board, and he also acted as chairman of the Picton Hospital Board, and sat at the Picton Borough Council table. His wife died over two years ago, and he has left a family of two daughters (Mrs. Frank Dillon, of Blenheim, and Mrs. E. R. Dymock, of Wellington) and four sons (Mr. Seymour Fell, of Picton, Mr. Gerald Fell, who practised as a solicitor in Wellington until he went away with the 7th Reinforcements, Mr. Anthony C. Fell, who left with the Motor Boat Patrol, and Mr. Walter Fell, of Longburn). Dr. Fell, now in Europe, and Mr. C. Y. Fell, solicitor, of Nelson, are his brother's. The late Mr. Fell was in his younger days a very fine oarsman and yachtsman.[1]

MARLBOROUGH EXPRESS, VOLUME LI, ISSUE 33, 8 FEBRUARY 1917 The death occurred at his residence in Wellington on Tuesday of Mr A. G. Fell, who was for many years a well-known resident of Blenheim and Picton. He took a prominent part in local affairs, and was Mayor of Picton and chairman of the Hospital Board. A few years ago he went to live in Wellington. Mr Fell was a keen sportsman, being particularly interested in rowing. He leaves a family of several sons and daughters, his wife having predeceased him. Mr Seymour Fell, of Picton, is the eldest son and Mrs F. N Dillon. of Leefield is a daughter. One son, Lieut. G. H. Fell, is a member of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and another. Mr A. C. Fell, left with the Motor Boat Patrol recently.[2]

Fell-946 and Fell-980 appear to represent the same person because: Fell-980 is much more complete than Fell-946, but there are no points of disagreement.
