Charles Henry Woodward and Caroline Eaton were married after banns in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 13th November 1872[2]. They were bachelor and spinster, both of full age and living in Hanborough. Charles was a labourer and the son of Charles Woodward, also a labourer. Caroline was a gloveress and the daughter of Thomas Eaton who was a labourer. Charles signed his own name on the register whilst Caroline could only make her mark with a cross and the witnesses to the marriage were Mark Stile and Mary Stiles[3].
