Hi Elizabeth!

I see you connected Melchior Ruch and Elisbeth Frauchiger as parents of Melchior Ruch (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ruch-87), but I don't see any sources. Can you provide a source for that information? We have been looking for Melchior's parents for years, so any info would be much appreciated.

Hi Elizabeth,

Just a reminder that when you add data or relationships you need to provide your source to support that information. I could find nothing to support the change you made. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:NetworkFeed&who=Howell-1869 The profile is completely unsourced, and the father you added indicates all of the "estimates" made.

Thanks for contributing to our shared tree. I've noticed that you don't have sources on some of your profiles like Russell-26269. The Sources FAQ https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources_FAQ explains that "Ancestry.com" is not sufficient. By using RootSearch (Research from the Name-### menu) you can search many sites for sources. I have done this for Russell-26269 and added some sample sources (by copying Citing this Record from FamilySearch).

Hello I noticed you adopted a pre-1500 profile. You may already know, but there are many restrictions on how the pre-1500 profiles are handled.

The Pre-1500 Certified badge is required for adding or editing these profiles.

It doesn't look like you have that certification yet so here is some information on pre-1500 profiles that will be of help if you want to get the pre-1500 authorization. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1500_Profiles

Hope this helps!

Hi Elizabeth,

I noticed that you've created quite a few profiles only listing Ancestry as a source. You might want to refamiliarize yourself with the pre-1700 quiz you took which talks about quality sources. Here is a link to it: https://www.wikitree.com/quiz/pre_1700

Thank you.

Hi Elizabeth,

I noticed that you are using Ancestry records for some of your sources. They have some great records which sometimes can't be found anywhere else.

Has anyone let you know that there is a way to create stable links to the records? You can read more about it in the Links to Ancestry FAQ. Let me know if you have any questions,

Debi

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hello Elizabeth,

The relationship finders shows us as 9th cousins, with Edward Dorsey as common ancestor. That's kind of distant, but my Dorsey connection is something I am real confident about. I have had Ydna testing with positive results regarding my Howard line. And my 5th and 6th great-grandparents (Howards) both married Dorsey girls from Edward's line.

If you are interested, I have a multi-family facebook group, Howard And Allied Families, with over 500 members. Quite a few are related to you, if your tree is correct. I will send you a message with a url. The group has some fantastic genealogist. Admins from The Howard Project at FTDNA have joined, as well as admins from the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society. Hope to meet you soon. Thanks!

Hi.

I don’t know if you got my message but you added Picken-353 as a child for Alexander Pickan and Jean Watson. I can find no sources for that and as you can see all the other children are documented and if he was born in 1773 they had a child Jean born in 1773.

I can’t find *any* Matthew Picken or Pickan born between 1763 and 1778. If he was married in Ireland are you sure he was born in Scotland?

I know baptismal records are sometimes missing so if you have any sources connecting him to this family, please share them on the profile. Otherwise I’m going to need to disconnect him from this family. Thanks !

Sorry, I did get the reply and looked up as much as I could. I started my charts on Ancestry.com and various trees add him, but don't give definitive proof on this. From Geni.com and Familyheritage.com, the list the following:

Everton Pedigree and Family Group Sheets MyHeritage Started during the Mar-Apr 1979 issue of Everton's Genealogical Helper, the information was originally gathered through user-generated submission via advertisement in Everton's Genealogical Helper, this collection displays the archival efforts of thousands of genealogical enthusiasts, all who are trying to connect with their relatives across time and space. The records within this collection may not be up-to-date to present day research, but they are believed to be up-to-date as of the date of reception of the individual record. All records have this date stamped on them. Many of the pedigree charts and family group sheets contain documentations and sources, although others simply cite the information collector, or the person who is sending in the material. Pedigree charts and family group sheets within this collection range in date from fourteen and fifteenth centuries (information on the charts, not the charts themselves) to the present. https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-10095-1266908/mathew-picken-in-everton-pedigree-family-group-sheets Event: Record Role: 10095:1266908: Mathew Picken
Document type: Family group sheet
Birth: 1773
Spouse: Susanna McFadden
Children: Jane Picken + James EnglishElizabeth Picken + Thomas O FisherMathew PickenMatilda Picken + George BartowSarah Picken + John DonaheyAlpheus Picken + Jane AndersonSusannah Picken + Hamilton McFaddenAlexander Picken + Elizabeth HollandWilliam Picken + Mary McDonough

If you feel like he should be removed, I'll go with your judgement on that. Thanks for getting back to me. Any information on the Picken line you can give me would be very helpful.

I went to the page and posted my information, but I don't know what to do next. Yours was the only reply that I saw..

Hi Elizabeth,

I happened to see that you have an interest in joining the Magna Carta Project. As you may be aware the Magna Carta Project has two membership levels. Members at both levels research and improve Magna Carta lineages but have different participation requirements. Badged members concentrate on improving the relationship trails from Gateway Ancestors (approx 240 colonial immigrants with direct ancestral trails to one or more surety barons.) These Gateway Ancestors and their lineages are documented by genealogist., Douglas Richardson. Requirements for "Badged" membership include meeting project quality standards and acting as Guardian for an unassigned Gateway Ancestor. On the other hand, "Affiliate" members do not have participation requirements or meet making this level ideal for the member that is new to Pre-1700 and Pre-1500 genealogy. Also, it's perfect for a member that prefers to work at a more relaxed pace. Many affiliate members are interested in uncovering their own direct connections to a surety baron as opposed to working the trails that extend from the Gateway Ancestor to surety baron. So, if your interest is in researching your own personal Magna Carta lineage at a relaxed pace, then Affiliate membership is probably the way to go. If, on the other hand, you love medieval genealogy, a structured research environment, meeting high verification and documentation standards, then the badged membership level may suit your interest level. At both levels the work is often challenging but rewarding.

For more information please see, Magna Carta Membership - How to join. Once you have decided which level is right for you contact me and I will get you started.

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).
