The helmet mark is a silver five-pointed star, with a point up between two eagle's wings, one red, the other silver. ”This coat of arms is entered in the supplement of Rietstap's Armoral Général 2nd edition. Hello Louis,

Working on this adopted Profile, my 6C. Haven't found sources for Masi Dobbi so will not add her as a spouse. I have found 7 children for John (Jan). Only have sources for 5. I see you added 2 children Johannes & Joannis. Joannis is the same name as Johannes and I find no date of 1669. Have you duplicated them. I have a Jacobus 1659 2 Sources; a Jannetje 1660 No Sources; a Joannis 1661 9 Sources; a Catharijna 1662 2 Sources; a Margrieta 1665 2 Souces; a Cornelia 1667 2 Sources; & Marijtje 1674 (the year that is estimated John died) No Sources. I will not be adding the 2 children with no Sources. Given this info please check your records & Sources to see where you found your info. Thanks, Hal

Hi Hal, thank you for your reply.

Since you only adopted the profile, I have a better understanding of your replies. I added the second profile Joannis (Crafferth) Craffort (1669-1725), not the first Johannes which is another profile you adopted on 26 Jul 2022. Both Johannes and Joanus were children of Jan Craffert. You have to click on the profile I created to see the sources. I upload sources to the profiles to verify existing genealogies.

The children is not the problem, but whether John Crawford (abt.1630-abt.1674) is actually the one that married van Elspleet. The dates as given on this profile does not make any sense at all. Let me explain.

The Jan Craffert that married Van Elspleet could not have been born in 1630. Check the sources on Anna (van Elspeet) Craffort (bef.1633-1708) His first marriage was to Ivens, Lijsbet. I have not found the marriage. She is mentioned on the second marriage His second marriage was to Dobbi in 1647. If this was true he would have been 17 years old at the time. His third marriage was to van Elspleet in 1657.

The narrative on this profile claims he came to Holland after the death of his father. His father James Crawford de Kilberney (1598-1660) died in 1660. That is 3 years after his third marriage. He cannot be in Scotland and get married in Holland at the same time.

My conclusion is that this John Crawford would have been 17 years old and as such cannot be the same Jan Crawfort that married Dobbi after he had, had a first marriage. How old would he have had to be for his first marriage?

Something is terribly wrong with the story on this profile. If he was born in 1630 as you claim, he actually entered his second marriage with Dobbi at the age of 17. His third marriage was with van Elspeet.

I don't deny that there could have been a John Crawfort born 1630, but it is not the same person who married van Elspeet. It is my intention to remove her connection to this profile unless you can provide verifiable sources to support your claim.
