Priscilla Cravath is named as Francis Carlton's wife in the Carlton Record.[1] According to that source, "about the year 1781, [Francis] was married to Miss Priscilla Cravath, who was a native of New Jersey and of Irish Descent. At the time of their marriage, Francis was twenty five years of age and Priscilla twenty-three. This union was blessed with five children, named in order of birth, Martha, Margaret, William, John and Peter." The Carlton Record also states that Priscilla died in New Jersey in 1790[2] before Francis moved to Ohio. Little else is known about her.
My cousin and I have been unable to find DNA matches that support our Cravath ancestry. Currently we are considering the idea that her surname might have been mis-stated, and could have been Cravat, Gravatt, or another variation of the spelling. Anyone reading this who'd like to discuss it further, please contact me. - Kelts-7 18:18, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
One possibility we are exploring is that Priscilla's father may have been William Gravatt. Priscilla died before William, so we do not find her named in his will.
