Biography

Mathew Cobb was born on April 15, 1719 in Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay Colony, son of Thomas Cobb (1683–~1742) and Rachel Stone (~1687–1746).^[1]

Mathew (30) married Mary Garrett (30) (born after 1719) on January 24, 1750 in Barnstable.^[2]

Their children were:

• Olive Cobb (>1750–1830)
• Mary Cobb (>1750– )
• Lydia Cobb (>1750– )
• Daniel Cobb (~1752–1823)
• Mathew Cobb (~1757–1824)

Mathew died on January 24, 1762, aged 42.

Probate

Matthew Cobb of Barnstable, yeoman died intestate and on 15 February 1764, his widow, Mary was granted the administration of his estate.^[3]

His inventory was taken on 28 February 1764 in Barnstable. An account of his estate by his widow Mary included, necessaries allowed the widow, doctor, debts paid, and administration fees.^[4]

In 1764, his widow Mary received her dower.^[5]

In 1764, his widow Mary was appointed guardian of his minor children, Matthew, Richard, Mary, Lydia, Daniel, and Olive.^[6]
