Research Notes

DNA Information

The Cain DNA Project at www.familytreedna.com has Y-DNA matches from several male-line descendants of his father, Nicholas Cain. These results point to an ancestral origin at the mother of the River Shannon in Ireland, possibly near Scattery Island where Cahane’s Castle stands, and the town of Kilrush, once held by Nicholas Cahan, coronet of Clare. The Y-DNA results also indicate a connection with the Cains of Bladen County, North Carolina.

Edmond in his will lists his children as Daniel Cane, Margaret Shaw, James Cane, John Cane, Cornelius Cane, Edmond Cane, Jesse Cane, Anna Hippo, and David Cane.

There is no evidence that William Cain is his son, and Edmond's will directly condradicts that he is his son. In light of this I am removing William Cain as his son.

Anonymous Cellar, it would be great to see this will. Do youu have a copy you could scan/photograph and upload? Or is it online somewhere where we could take a look?
