Biography

Keith[1] has nothing but a partial birthdate for John, "---ember 25, 1806".

John married a woman named Mildred, surname unknown, presumably in White Co., Tenn., sometime around the year 1828.

His father relocated the family to Missouri in the 1840's but John decided to try his luck in Brown Co., Indiana, first. His was the only Broyles family in that location so the marriages that took place there in the early 1850's are surely those of his children. He eventually moved to Laclede Co., Mo., where the rest of the family was living.

U.S. Census

Year Name Location Males Females
1830 Broyles, John TN, White[2] 10001 00001
Age BP Occupation
1840 [Record not found]
1850 Broyles, James IN, Brown[3] 43 TN Farmer
1860 Broyles, John MO, Laclede[4] 54 TN Farmer

- Note that the 1850 census gives his name as James instead of John. But it is clearly the same individual as found ten years later in Laclede Co,. Mo. The ages match and both men are married to a woman named Mildred.
