Sarah was born about 1655. She passed away in 1696. [1]

Will

not sure why she is identified as "spinster"
"16 July 1695, Will of Sarah Knibb of Henrico Parish, spinster"[2]
"Son Samuel Knibb; son Solomon Knibb, 100 acres on south side of James R. known by the name of the Ware, which I purchased of William Harris; son Thomas Knibb, negro boy Jemy; son John Knibb a silver tankard Richard Kennon is to bring in, also a gold ring with this posie: “I have obtained who God ordained”; to dear mother Mrs. Sarah Woodson, a side saddle, etc.; loving sister Temperance Farrar, wearing apparel; Martha Batte, daughter of my sister Temperance; mother to be executor and sons Samuel and Solomon; two youngest sons to learn to read and write and to cipher to rule of three; wit: John Worsham, Joseph Royall, All. Clarke; rec. 1 Dec 1696 (Book £3 Wills and Deeds 1688-1697, p. 671)"[2]

Orphans Court

The following pertinent entries are from Henrico County Orphans Court records (1677-1690):[3]
  • 1 October 1677: John Browne, decd., left behind property, but his legatees are not stated, but it is in the custody of Samuel Knibble.
  • 20 August 1692: Sarah Knibb has two sons, Solomon and John Knibb, and she is ordered to give security for her custody of the estate of their uncle Jer. Brown, decd. The sheriff is to summon Sarah Knibb, executrix of the will of Samuel Knibb, decd.
  • 20 August 1694: Mrs. Sarah Knibb presents an account of her son Solomon’s estate given him by his father by deed of gift.
  • 21 August 1699: Sarah Woodson promises to bring in court such orphans of Samuel Knibbs, who have received their estate. Added in: 10 Oct 1699: Samuel Knibbs, one of the orphans, discharges her.
  • 21 August 1704: Solomon Knibb, an orphan of Samuel Knibb, is to appear in court to discharge his guardian, Mrs. Sarah Woodson.
  • 20 August 1705: Capt. Francis Epps, Capt. John Worsham, Capt. Joseph Royal are empowered to see Solomon Knibb’s estate is delivered up unto Samuel Knibb (belonging to John and Thomas Knibb, delivered up unto Samuel Knibb).
