Mary Serena Brown was born in 1837 in York County, SC to John Brown and Polly Caldwell.[1] She was the first of their children to live past infancy.

Her birth is recorded in the family bible.

She married William Quinn in 1856[2][3] and they had 3 sons together: John, Robert, and William.[4]

William died in 1862 while serving in the Civil War[5][6]

Mary married Joseph Ramsey, another civil war vet, in 1866 and they had two children together: Mary Jane (Maggie) and James Bernard.[7]

She died in 1919 of chronic rheumatism, two years after Joseph's death.[8] She is buried in Capernium Cemetery in Waco, NC. [9]
