Biography
Margaret was born in York County, SC in 1847. She was the child of John Brown and Polly Caldwell.[1]
Her parents' family bible has records of her birth and marriage.
The family moved from York County to Cleveland County, NC around 1859[2]
She married John Hallman in Cleveland County in 1874.[3]
They had at least five children together:
- Daniel Cleatus (1876–1958)
- Mamie (1878–1956)
- Cora Jane (1880–1969)
- Willie F (1882-1883)
- infant son (1884-1884)
She died in 1884 a few days after her youngest child was born, and the baby died a few months later. Both are buried at Long Creek Presbyterian Church in Gaston County, NC.[4]
