Johann Nicholas Brosius was the son of Johann Nicolas Brosius and Anna Barbara Schaffer

In 1806, when Mahanoy township, which originally embraced all that area now divided into Jackson, Washington, Upper Mahanoy, Jordan and Lower Mahanoy townships, was divided, one Nicholas Brosius was one of the supervisors of that section now called Upper Mahanoy, and Abraham Brosius was one of the two overseers of the poor of said township. In 1845 George Brosius was one of the organizers of the Georgetown Church, Lutheran and Reformed. Floyd, p. 866

WILL OF NICHOLAS BROSIUS

Northumberland County, Pennsylvania Will Book #1, Pg. 150

In the name of God, Amen, I, Nicholas Brosius of Upper Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County and State of Pennsylvania, yeoman, being of perfect health and sound mind memory and understanding blessed be God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following: Principle and First of all: I command my Immortal Soul into the hand of God, who give it and body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian-like manner at the discretion of my Executor herein after named. An as to such worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner to wit; I give and devise unto my son Nicholas Brosius the place whereon he now lives situate in Schuylkill County during his lifetime, and after the death of my said son Nicholas Brosius, I give and devise the same unto the legal heirs of my son Nicholas Brosius, but he must pay the sum of one hundred dollars lawful money unto the legal heirs of my daughter Catharine in two payments $50.00 one year and $50.00 two years after the death of my said son Nicholas by paying the last payment my executors shall give them a lawful deed for the same,further I give him the straw which he now hath in his possession, this shall be his share in full except his share of my clothing. Further, I, give and devise unto my son Jacob Brosius, the place whereon he now lives, for which I have a deed ready executed which shall be delivered to him after my death for which he shall pay the sum of one hundred dollars to my son-in-law Henry Bohner, intermarried to my daughter Maria Elizabeth, fifty dollars one year after my death and fifty dollars two years after my death, which shall be her share in full of my estate. Further, I give and devise unto my son Peter Brosius the place whereon I now live for which I have a deed ready executed and shall be delivered to him after my death for which he shall pay the sum of four hundred dollars in the following manner; one hundred to my son-in-law Frederick Bohner intermarried to my daughter Eve, fifty dollars thereof three years after my death and fifty dollars four years after my death; one hundred dollars to my son-in-law Jacob Troutman, intermarried to my daughter Magdalena, fifty dollars thereof five years after my death and fifty dollars six years after my death and one hundred dollars to my son-in-law Henry Rebuck intermarried to my daughter Anna Maria, fifty dollars thereof seven years after my death and fifty dollars eight years after my death which shall be their share in full of my estate. Further I give and devise unto my son Peters Brosius, one waggon, the windmill, one stove and pipes, one harrow, one log-cabin, six cow chains, and the horse gears, and the mare which I now have, further it is my will that my four sons shall divide all my wearing apparel in equal shares and as touching all the rest residue and remainder of my estate of what kind or nature soever. I give and devise the same unto my son Peter Brosius forever. And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my two beloved sons Peter and Jacob Brosius my executors of my last will and testament, breaking all other wills by me hereto before made, declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the 20th of January in the year of our Lord 1828 A.D. Codicil to my last will and testament I give and devise unto the legal heirs of my daughter M. Elizabeth, deceased, late the wife of Henry Bohner the sum of one hundred dollars which I have heretofore devised to Henry Bohner in the following manner, forty dollars thereof, to his sonJ ohn Bohner, and remainder in equal share amongst the said heirs to bedivided and the said Henry Bohner shall have nothing of my estate. Witness my hand the 2nd of February 1830. Witness Peter Snider, Jr.

Be it remembered the 24th day of December 1830..etc..witnesses appeared.
