Johann was born on 23 December 1754 in Atolhe, Berks, Pennsylvania, USA.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

When Johann was about 30 he married Anna Maria Reitz in 1785 in Washington Twp, Northumberland, PA. The couple had one child: Maria Catherine Brosius.[9]
