Cookie (Brewington) Burton is one of twins.

Cocheyse was born in 1918 to Thomas Brewington and Minnie Newton ^[1] She was one of ten children born to this couple, and she had a twin sister. Her father was a farmer. In 1940 the family was living in Long Creek, Pender County, North Carolina.^[2]

Cookie married John Henry Chavis, Jr. in 1944. John Henry Chavis, Jr was a Tuskegee airman who continues to be listed as Missing in Action in Italy.

After John was pronounced legally dead, she maried William Dewitt Burton in 1947. ^[3]

Cookie passed away in 1987.
