Biography

Daniel Brainerd, 3d, was born September 28, 1690, at East Haddam, Connecticut. His parents, Daniel Brainerd, Jr., and Susannah Ventres, were both born at Haddam to original English settlers.^[1]

Daniel Brainerd, 3d, married Hannah Selden on 2 Feb 1715.Their children (all born at East Haddam) were:^[1]

1. Susannah Brainerd, born 27 Nov 1716; died 10 Feb 1726.*
2. Hannah Brainerd, born 28 Nov 1718; died 17 Feb 1726.*
3. Daniel Brainerd, born 24 Feb 1721/22, was the first child of the family to survive to adulthood. He married Esther Gates, who died in 1769, then Prudence Gridley, who survived him. Daniel died 10 Jan 1777.
4. Mary Brainerd, born 24 Sep 1723; died 2 Feb 1726.*
5. Susannah Brainerd, 2d, born 9 Aug 1726; died 14 Sep 1751.
6. Hannah Selden* Brainerd, 3d, born 17 Apr 1729.
