Hi James,

I can see you've just recently been awarded your pre-1700 badge. However you are creating pre-1700 profiles without a reliable source which is one of the things that is specifically addressed in the self-certification quiz. Ancestry.ca (or any other website) is not a source - it is a repository - a place where you can find a source. For pre-1700 profiles that could be a specific entry in a parish register, a will, a legal document or something like that. It would be great if you added some reliable sources to the profiles you've created before you create any more. Otherwise you could end up with an overwhelming backlog. Cheers, Elizabeth

Hello, James!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
