Biography

The parents listed for this individual are speculative and may not be based on sound genealogical research. Sources to prove or disprove this ancestry are needed. Please contact the Profile Manager or leave information on the bulletin board.

Gerlotte is not named in any reliable source of the Blois family and it seems highly likely she has been fabricated to fill in a gap that connects a later family to the Carolingian dynasty.

See the numerous disclaimers for this profile. If you have sources to help prove/disprove her existence, please let us know. Meanwhile, I've adjusted her estimated DOB.
Thank you, Andrew. The page I cited says that Gerlotte Blois existed and was the wife of Hrolf Thurstan. I don't see other evidence yet to corroborate it, though.

The passage you cite mentions no medieval records, and there are lots of warning signs showing we should be cautious of it. Perhaps it is based on Battle Abbey Rolls? For some of the relevant medieval records see http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/normabc.htm#_Toc498534446 and http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/NORMANDY.htm

Is https://archive.org/stream/conquerorhiscomp02plan#page/18/mode/2up The Conquerer and His Companions by James Robinson Planche considered reliable?
posted by Robin Anderson
I would say sometimes, but not if it disagrees with other sources. Planche was heavily criticized by the more critical researchers who came after him including Round. But Round also sometimes cited him.

Blois-87 and Blois-165 appear to represent the same person because: Same person please merge
The confusion is caused by merging profiles, and not cleaning them up afterwards. Some banzai-ing is in order.

It appears to me that Gerlotte is the mother and wife of Anslac. What is the story behind this? Oedipus complex?

Seriously, I've seen this in numerous places and am curious!

Jacques, the LNAB needs to be changed before merging. Need to eliminate the 'de'. Thanks.
De Blois-49 and De Blois-44 are not ready to be merged because: Complementary information without overlap.

She shows as born after her children. There must be more than one person with this name.
