Howard Barnhill is Notable.

Howard C Barnhill was an educator and a North Carolina state Representative.

Howard Barnhill was born in 1916. He was the son of Josephine Staton and Lonnie Barnhill.[1]

He was a UNC-Chapel Hill public health educator from 1951 to his retirement 1994.

He was the Democratic representative for North Carolina's 60th house district (part of Mecklenburg County) from 1 Jan 1985 to 1 Jan 1995.[2] He helped to push through a bill to encourage AIDS testing by barring employers and landlords from discriminating against those with the virus. Later, he pushed a measure calling for $5.5 million for AIDS education and prevention.[3]

He died in 1996[1][3][4] and is buried in Oaklawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in Charlotte, North Carolina.[5]
