Gentry Barnes is Notable.

Gentry Barnes served as a US military pilot during World War II. He was one of the “Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen.” The Tuskegee Airmen were known for heroic combat service in support of Allied Forces in the European Theater. They served with the 332d Expeditionary Operations Group and the 477th Bombardment Group, both largely Black units of the United States Army Air Forces.

Gentry Barnes, son of Harry and Daisy Barnes, was born in 1921 in Illinois. .[1]

Gentry married Ollie Fontenette in Indiana in 1945.[2] In 1950 they were living with her widowed mother in Gary, Indiana where he was working as a census taker and Ollie was working as a grade school teacher.

Gentry died in 1969 in Indiana from injuries received in an accident at the Bethlehem Steel Plant, where he was a master mechanic. [3] According to his death certificate he was buried in Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart, Indiana.
