Biography

Ruth (Wimberly) Patterson is a part of US Black heritage.

Ruth (or Chloe) was born in 1907 in Illinois. She was the daughter of John S. Wimberly and Daisy Payne. Her father passed away when she was small, and she was raised by her maternal grandparents.

Ruth married Drexel Patterson in 1921 in Richland County, Illinois. In 1930 they were living in Chicago with one son.

She passed away in 1977 in Vincennes, Indiana. According to her obituary she was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses and a retired beautician. She was survived by two sisters and a brother.

Ruth's mother Daisy passed away just two days before her, and a double funeral was held for them. Ruth was buried in Portee Cemetery in Lawrence County, Illinois.
