ESTHER BARKER, b. at Andover, May 1712 daughter of John Barker and Sarah Chadwick; d. at Andover, 29 Dec 1810;^[1] m. at Andover, 23 Apr 1747, ANDREW KIMBALL, b. at Andover, 13 Sep 1719 son of Daniel and Esther (Foster) Kimball; Andrew d. at Andover, 31 Mar 1799.^[2]

Andrew Kimball was a farmer in Andover. In his will written 17 June 1780 (proved 7 May 1799), Andrew Kimball bequeaths to beloved wife Esther the produce of one-third of all the real estate with specific provisions during her natural life to be provided to her by the executor. She is to have use of the easterly part of the house and cellar. Daughter Sarah wife of Daniel Poor, Jr. receives £30. Daughter Mehitable wife of Ephraim Lacy receives £5 as Ephraim is to receive the real and personal estate. Daughter Esther receives £80 and may live in the same portion of the house as her mother while she lives the single life. Daughter is also to have provisions from the executor. Daughter Lydia Kimball receives £80 half to be paid at the time of her marriage. The household goods are to be divided among his four daughters. Ephraim Lacy and Mehitable his wife receive all the real estate. Ephraim receives the husbandry tools. Ephraim will be responsible for the depts and funeral charges and the care of Andrew’s wife. Ephraim is executor. Real estate was valued at $1,733.32 and personal estate at $590.39.^[3]

Andrew and Esther were parents of six children born at Andover.

ii SARAH KIMBALL, b. 20 Jan 1750; d. at Rindge, NH, about 1791; m. at Andover, 18 Apr 1769, DANIEL POOR, b. at Andover, 21 Jul 1746 son of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Dane) Poor; Daniel d. at Rindge, 9 Jan 1816. Daniel married second Martha Barker (widow of Jeremiah Russell) at Rindge on 8 Mar 1792.

iii MEHITABLE KIMBALL, b. 13 Mar 1752; d. at Andover, 22 Oct 1840; m. at Andover, 29 Aug 1783, EPHRAIM LACY, baptized at Boxford, 30 Dec 1750 son of Ephraim and Martha (Wood) Lacy; Ephraim d. at Andover, 14 Oct 1839.

iv ESTHER KIMBALL, b. 29 Jun 1754; d. at Andover, 3 Feb 1848. Esther did not marry.

1. ↑ Kimball, Esther [(Barker), C.R.1.], wid., Dec. 29, 1810. [Dec. 28, a. 87 y. C.R.1.] Recorded in Andover vital records, volume 2, p 486. There is a discrepancy in terms of age. One transcription gives her age at death as 87 which would not fit. There is some uncertainty about her date of birth as the original records was apparently torn. It is possible that she was born somewhat later than 1712.
