Biography
James Balfour was born on 13 October 1854 in New South Wales, Australia, the son of Maryanne (Nicholls) Balfour and Walter Balfour.[1][2][3]
He was married to Jane Amelia Allsop. Their children were:[2]
- James Phillip Balfour (1880?–?)
- Sarah Jane Balfour (1881?–1944)
- Frederick John Balfour (1882?–?)
- Evelyn Maud Balfour (1887?–1980?)
- William Thomas Balfour (1894–1963)
- At least three more daughters
James died on 12 July 1915 in Dubbo, New South Wales, aged 63, leaving a widow, three sons and five daughters.[2][4][5] His remains were interred at the old Dubbo Cemetery.[3][5]
Research notes
James's NSW death record includes father's name "William",[4] which is thought to be incorrect.
