II-1. Robert Giffin was the son of Daniel, and the grandson of Robert the pioneer settler at Wheeling. He was the first farmer in the vicinity to prohibit the use of liquor on his farm. His home was on the head waters of Battle Run, Ohio County, W.Va. He was a pioneer who cleared most of the land he afterwards cultivated so diligently.
