Looking for the parents of Alexander Pollock

Question

Alexander was my grandfathers grandfather. He was married to Orpha Van Note. Their daughter Hattie Pollock was married to Joseph Baker and their son was Russell Pollock Baker, my grandfather. I can find no info on ancesters before Alexander, born in 1814-1820 and died in 1878. I believe he was born in NY and he is buried in Iowa.

Alexander Polley married Orpha in 1855. In the 1860 census his oldest child is 12. Perhaps his first wife died? Half of the kids are Elizabeth Hardin's?
