Just what is a Swedish Census?

FamilySearch calls Swedish HouseHold Books census.  This is different from the Swedish Census taken every 10 years.  How should we handle this in profiles?

The records for the 5 yr periods show similar data, but are not called census.  What should we call them for a proper heading in a biography to show they are different? Is there another wording we can use other than "Household Examination Record" that would be descriptive?
Check out the FamilySearch research wiki: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Sweden_Census.  The census is a different document than the parish household records, although it was sometimes derived from them.  I'm not sure what's wrong with "Household Examination Record" for one and "Census" for the other.

Your Census are in Swedish "Folkräkning, Sveriges Befolkning" and can be seen free in Riksarkivet, ” riksarkivet.se/digitala-forskarsalen”,  for the years 1860 (but 1860 only a few counties), more complete  1870, 1880,1900 and 1910. Here you can look for  a name in a parish or sometimes county. – Arkiv Digital, if you pay for a period,  has Sveriges Befolkning 1940, 1950, 1960

Sveriges Släktforskarförbund  through ”https://www.rotterbokhandeln.se” are selling CD. They have  5 CD, 1880,  1910, 1970, 1980 and for 1990. You have to pay around 595 Swedish Kronor each.   If you have an unusual surname and not know the parish you may found it here.

How many years a  churchbook for the inhabitants in a parish , Husförhörsbok or Församlingsbok, depends mostly on how many pages the book have.   :)  and  the size of a parish. Mostly there is a register in the beginning with the farms and buildings  in alphabetic order and pagenumber.- In a big parish there can be serveral household books for the same years.

Hello Norm, have you clicked on the FamilySearch links? They go to ArkivDigital scans, which is the paid site I use in my Swedish research. They also have RiksArkivet.se links, which is the free site for parish records. In the pre-1880s, I noticed the parish (Household) records in most parishes I have worked with were in five year increments instead of like the ten year censuses in the post 1880s. I hope this helps.

Sorry Missy it coes not help. There is serious difference between the Household records and the Census Records
They are a little different, but they are good sources. I guess I do not understand what you are looking for. Sorry!
Missy,  please see my comment under the main question and my answer.   It may clarify Norms question.

A census is a sample taken (statewide or nationwide) at one point in time, at certain intervals, whereas the household records were ledgers kept in each parish, with entries made continuously through the period, as events occurred, usually by a person who knew the parishioners quite well.  A heading of === Parish Records === may be appropriate for these 5 yr records.

You cite the original Swedish name for the source. If it is a parish register, but household, instead of baptism or marriage etc.say so (best if you use the Swedish term with English translation in parentheses), but be sure to cite location, source of the records.. If it is a decennial census then cite it as the census: year, location, relevant numbers, location of the record.

Not sure if this helps, but any enumeration of individuals in the USA can be called a census:  Town census, parish census, state census, or the federal census.  However, whatever they are called locally is probably the best name.
