Anybody know why my GEDCOM from Ancestry is being rejected. 500 + family members.

Hey all! Having an issue when trying to upload my GEDCOM from Ancestry.com. When I take the same export that's synced to "Family Tree 2017" software it works without issue. I then export the file from Ancestry.com instead because I would like source links to point to external records and not to my hard drive and it rejects the file. Has anybody had the same issue and is there a work around? Why would Wikitree be rejecting this GEDCOM without returning any error message?

Could it be that some of my sources date back to 1590?

If the files are for the same individuals imported from Family Search, you would be creating duplicates, which I don't believe is allowed.  But I don't use GEDCOMs (more work to clean up than they save), so maybe an expert will come up for air during our cleaning marathon.

Thanks for the reply! Quick question, when uploading a GEDCOM, are all family members saved or only those that I've merged or compared? It seems as though only the family members I edit and accept are registered, I don't see any other family members from the GEDCOM when using search.

could it be the file size? i  read that you can split a file if it is being rejected.

The first thing is that you have to compare EVERY profile in your GEDCOM before you save any, then only the ones that were not found to be a match will be saved. Your second problem is the dates. I do not believe that you can add anything prior to 1700 without the proper certification.

As Kathy mentioned in her answer uploading a GEDCOM really is more work than adding the names individually so in the end do you really want to spend more time to do lesser quality work?
