searching past 1837

Question

I can not get use to how to the national archives at all is there a easier site that i possibly use as have no citings from about 1746 so hit a brick wall till i can find them and i not subscibed to any where either at the moment

What geographical and time frame do you usually search in? There are a few good sources for the 15th. Century through to the 13th. Century.

Familsearch have quite a lot of older records, as do freereg.org.uk and some of the county OPR sites. Are you looking for any specific area and period?

most of mine are in Ashcott, Bridgwater, Somerset looking to go from 1746 back to 1479

yes i was Richard but have not been on the line for a bit that is definately one to take break from every now and again my lot were mainly from waterford.

Have you looked at the on-line parish records for the relevant county. Many of these go quite a way back, got one of my families back to 1500s, and some are free.  They do vary from county to county.
