Dear Yamaya,

In the Hispanic surname style I know this happens.  Do you think MILLER was his father's surname and KELLY was his mother's surname?  If that is true, his records in the USA would usually be filed under MILLER.

Do you know the name of the wife of John Davi Miller Kelly?  Were they married in the USA or somewhere else? Finding a marriage record might be easier than finding two common USA surnames - Miller, Kelly.

  I hope this helps.  -NGP

This record most likely is NOT your ancestor.  But I like the record.

"New York, New York Passenger and Crew Lists, 1909, 1925-1957," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:24JC-DFR : 2 October 2015), John David Miller, 1934; citing Immigration, New York, New York, United States, NARA microfilm publication T715 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).

Please tell us more about your grandfather.  -NGP
