I am his great grandson and I am unable to find any documents at all regarding his parents. I know of his wife's parents and beyond.  I would appreciate any input at all!

Do you have a copy of his marriage certificate ?  This should name both his parents.

Have you seen this article in TROVE following his death ? It states he was a native of Sydney.
