STAR WARS Profiles

I have already added some profiles that belong to folks involved with bringing the STAR WARS universe to us. I made a free-space page that attempts to make a jumping off point to see who is connected and who is not. Any help is much appreciated!

Awww, Ron, you missed a golden opportunity - you could have said "launch point" instead of "jumping off point".

Merry Christmas!
Awesome! If you haven't done so already, I'll drop a link in at the bottom of the Notables Page!

May the Force be with you...
Oh, this is incredible, Ron!  May the Force be with you! :-)
I am Brown-63670 18 degrees from Carrie Fisher which also means 16 degrees from Elizabeth Taylor
Adam Driver and Brown -36370 are 20th cousins we share a great grandfather 19th William (Zouche) la Zouche 1321-1382

Ugh - found a duplicate of Alec Guinness. Merge in progress.
http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Guinness-430
Merge complete - THANKS MATT! - I misspelled his last name when I created the new profile, so it didn't catch the duplicate till I fixed his LNAB. I also believe I've got a connection to the global tree for Alec - we'll see what happens when the links update tonight. It's a long distance one - likely around 47-48 steps - but I'm confident it's there.
I think I've found an existing profile for Carrie Fisher - problem is it's RED privacy, so I can't see anything on it. I have requested the PM adjust this, if this is indeed her, so keep your fingers crossed and we'll see what comes of this. Thanks!

Added a profile for Kenny Baker. His family may be a challenge, as there's a bit to go on from his book, but not much else.

Carrie Fisher's profile is confirmed. Because she is still living, you would need to request to be added to the trusted list to edit, but it's there.
I can't find the email you sent regarding Carrie Fisher.  Could you please tell me what project would be managing this profile?

Sure - because Carrie is a Notable, we generally try to have the Notables project added as profile manager so that in cases where the original PM no longer wishes to manage the profile, there's always a system account attached to it that a few key admins can use to keep the profile open.

The instructions are:

  1. Click the Privacy tab on the notable profile.
  2. In the Add to Trusted List section, enter wikitree-notables-project@googlegroups.com and press ADD THIS PERSON.
  3. In the Trusted List section, select the link for wikitree-notables-project@googlegroups.com to "Add as Manager."
I think you have missed my points.

#1.  the @ makes this an email address.  Remove it so I can click it. Or send a regular request from someone, like yourself, so I can click it.

#2.  Tisch-54 should be project protected by now but isn't.  He is part of the Notables project. and hasn't had a manager except for one day in the past year.  Including when you sent this request.  He is notable in his own right, not as the father of someone notable.

#3. You have not sent a request for her mother who is also notable in her own right.

Hi Maureen,

Sorry - the email address is actually who has to be added for the trusted list request. Because of the way the system account is structured for the project, the email wikitree-notables-project@googlegroups.com is what you add to get the project added to the profile. Sorry for that misunderstanding. Once added it will show up as "Notables Project WikiTree".

I just stepped into the role as Project Coordinator for Notables, so I had to do some hunting related to Tisch-54. I see that you had a thread in September to try to get some profiles project protected. While I'm not able to do so, I'll make sure this profile gets to the leaders so that they can get this addressed. I'll send a message to Notables Project WikiTree and ask for Project Protection. and it should get protected soon after that. Noted that Project Protection only protects a couple of items, like the parents can't be changed (for example), but it's not a complete protection to prevent the profile from being updated.

Ah, and Debbie Reynolds. Sorry - I was approaching this (for the moment) from a Star Wars standpoint, so I completely missed her. If Reynolds-5838 is indeed the famous Debbie Reynolds, then I would request that we also reduce her privacy to the yellow band (private with public biography and family tree) and add the Notables Project to the trusted list and as profile manager.

Thanks for pointing all this out. I'm still learning a few details of the role and these things help out greatly in learning what I need to look out for.

Eddie Fisher is an orphaned profile.  You can see it from Carrie Fisher's profile.
As far as project protection,  I am concerned his last name at birth would be changed to Fisher.
I would like to know what is wrong with the notable structure that has been in use until now.

It seems moving everything every now and then is busy work and not really accomplishing much.

Also, do you have any idea how many google groups I would have to join to keep up with the profiles I have either participated in or are interested in.
Hi Maureen - I know what you mean. As far as Eddie goes, he is now Project Protected, so the LNAB and Parents can no longer be changed without intervention.

For the Project being added as Manager, this is only done on living profiles as a backup mechanism for those profiles in case the original Profile Manager ever decides to step aside or no longer wishes to be Manager anymore. You wouldn't need to add yourself to the Google Group unless you were interested in the messaging being sent to the Project Team on who wanted access to what profiles and other internal Project Team discussions. For the most part, this is rarely used, but once in awhile, it does help as a profile gets abandoned, and then because it's either a Red Privacy or otherwise locked and the PM is no longer around, a duplicate then gets created and essentially we end up starting over.

And this is actually part of the Notables Project procedures. You can check it out here:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Notables

Under Goals, you'll see the process for adding the Notables Project as Manager to living Notables. Let me know if there are more questions. Thanks!
You cannot abandon the profiles of living people. So that goal makes no sense.

Adding @google groups is for people who have died in the past hundred years and had yellow privacy tags.

I think you completely miss my point.  I belong to several projects. I used to follow their tags on g2g.  Now I don't because their conversations are in google groups instead of here. Where I think they should be.  How many private clubs do I have to belong to in order to contribute here.

I realize you are not responsible for the entire thing.  In fact, I know which group is (well two groups) But it still irritates the heck out of me.

I have been working down the list. So far we have connections for Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness, Sebastian Shaw (just found his link tonight), & Peter Cushing.

Still working down the list and hope to find more connections soon! :)
