  • Zane's Trace served as a vital artery for westward migration, allowing settlers to travel more quickly and safely to the fertile lands of the Ohio Valley.

  • Stretches for over 230 miles (370 km) from Wheeling, West Virginia (then Virginia), to Maysville, Kentucky, passing through what would become the southeastern quarter of Ohio. It was primarily based on existing Native American trails.

I will give it a try I had relatives who moved from West Virginia to other areas including Kentucky and Ohio.

The family stories say that my 4th Great-grandfather, John Green was on Ebenezer Zane's crew, so I did an internet search. I found so much information, I decided the road would make a good free space page, then it was converted to a one place study. Doing the genealogy on the rest of the crew was very interesting, especially the family relationships. I need help on a few of them. I'm hoping that the descendants of the other crew members may have stories about their ancestors involvement and will help find other crew members to include.
